Country music personality Morgan Wallen has received a two-year probationary period following an incident where he threw a chair from the rooftop of a Tennessee establishment. The vocalist, known for “I Had Some Help,” is also mandated to complete seven days at an education center for driving under the influence, having admitted guilt to two charges of reckless endangerment. The 31-year-old was taken into custody on April 7 of this year after launching a chair from the top of the six-story Chief’s bar, an establishment owned by fellow Country artist Eric Church. The object descended onto Broadway, a significant avenue filled with bars and music venues located in the heart of Nashville. Wallen is widely recognized for his number-one hit “Last Night,” featured on his acclaimed album “One Thing at a Time,” and for his initial success on the NBC program “The Voice.” The occurrence involving the thrown chair happened during Chief’s inaugural weekend celebrations. Wallen was processed into jail the subsequent day before being released. He issued an apology for the event via social media, stating: “I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.” This was not Wallen’s initial encounter with legal authorities. He had previously been apprehended in May 2020 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct outside Kid Rock’s honky-tonk bar within the entertainment district, as reported by The Tennessean newspaper. In 2021, he garnered significant media attention after a video captured him uttering a racial slur outside his Tennessee residence. That particular event led to the termination of his recording contract. He was removed from country radio station playlists and faced a three-year suspension from the Country Music Awards. Wallen later expressed remorse for his conduct, telling Billboard magazine in an interview: “There’s no excuse. I’ve never made an excuse. I never will make an excuse.” Notwithstanding these contentious events, he was honored as entertainer of the year at the CMA awards held last month.
