South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) and North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) have declared the availability of complimentary parking in certain towns on specific days throughout December, aiming to support pre-Christmas activities. In Grantham and Stamford, complimentary parking will be provided on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, in addition to Christmas Eve. For Sleaford, council-operated car parks will offer free parking every Saturday during December. Residents and visitors in Grantham and Stamford can utilize two hours of free parking in short-stay car parks and three hours in long-stay car parks on the designated days between 2 and 24 December. Users must either operate a ticket machine or register via the RingGo app to avail themselves of this offer. The specific car parks participating in Grantham include: Those participating in Stamford include: Councillor Richard Cleaver commented that the initiative is intended to “support both our residents and our town centre businesses”. In Sleaford, displaying a ticket will not be necessary. Free parking will be accessible every Saturday in December at these car parks: Standard free parking provisions will remain in effect on Sundays and during weekday evenings subsequent to 18:00 GMT. Councillor Richard Wright stated that December represents “a vibrant time in Sleaford” and expressed his anticipation that the free parking would “encourage more people to visit”. Sleaford is set to host various festive events, including Christmas markets, a light switch-on, a Christmas tree festival, and a lantern procession.
