On Saturday, a farming advocacy group brought their tractors to the center of Truro for a demonstration. Farmers Movement Cornwall orchestrated the rally with the aim of increasing public understanding of how to support British produce, alongside highlighting concerns regarding food security. The event, which commenced at 12:30 GMT in Victoria Square, was also prompted by the ongoing discussion surrounding changes to inheritance tax laws. Peter Lawrence, one of the organizers, stated his belief that the amount of home-grown food produced in the region is insufficient. He remarked: “We want to make the public and government aware of our concerns regarding food security.” He continued: “We shouldn’t be so heavily reliant on imports, we should be more self-sufficient and agricultural policy should change to ensure maximum agricultural self-sufficiency.” Mr. Lawrence further added: “The inheritance tax issue is very important and has triggered a lot of concern amongst the farming community.” He concluded by saying: “Farmers are very concerned and it certainly is one of the issues that sparked the protest today.” Post navigation Donald Trump Selects Elise Stefanik as UN Ambassador Nominee North East Lincolnshire Council Invites Public Feedback on Budget Proposals
