Middlesbrough forward Tommy Conway has expressed confidence in his capacity to score many more goals, having recently netted two in the 3-3 draw against Norwich City. Conway had previously scored 12 goals in each of the past two seasons for Bristol City. Despite Conway’s two goals, he also missed a penalty, and Boro ultimately relinquished a two-goal advantage, resulting in a draw at Carrow Road. The Scotland international now boasts a total of four goals across eight league appearances since his transfer from Bristol City in August. “Me and Emmanuel (Latte Lath), whoever’s up there, we know we’re going to get chances and score goals,” Conway informed BBC Radio Tees. Conway’s starts in Boro’s most recent two fixtures mark his return after a four-week absence due to a persistent injury. He has been deployed as the central striker, with last season’s leading scorer, Latte Lath, beginning matches on the substitutes’ bench. The away game in Norfolk represented the first occasion this season that Boro managed to score three goals in a single match, and Conway hopes this indicates that he and the team have now discovered an effective attacking strategy. “It’s only the second game I’ve played as a number nine,” he stated. “But you can see the rewards I’m getting and hopefully I can build on that.” Regarding their performance, he added: “When we scored three goals in the first half, it was some of the best stuff we have played this season.” He further commented: “We’re getting better and better, especially in the final third and it’s starting to click for us.” Conway concluded: “We just need to win games from that process.” Following the draw with Norwich, Boro maintains its ninth position in the league standings, sitting just one point shy of the play-off positions.
