Construction Commences on Student Housing Development in Glasgow

The development of a residential building, which will house over 300 student apartments, has commenced in Glasgow’s city centre. This project is situated at 292-298 St Vincent Street, on the former site of an office block that was recently demolished. Comprising 321 self-contained studio apartments, the £33 million development is projected to be finished by the summer of 2026. Amenities within the structure will encompass a gym, a cinema room, shared communal spaces, and dedicated study rooms for residents. Artisan Real Estate, Homes for Students, and Graham contractors are overseeing this undertaking. David Westwater, the development director for Artisan Real Estate, noted that the site is approximately a minute’s walk from the well-known King Tut’s Wah Wah hut and offers convenient walking or cycling access to numerous colleges and universities. He stated: “We will actively work with our neighbours to make the development an active and integral part of the local area, providing opportunities for our neighbours to share communal meeting spaces.” Separately, Graham contractors are presently engaged in constructing 521 apartments at a different location on Bath Street, with an anticipated completion date of summer 2025.
