A children’s football club has expressed being “blown away” by the community’s support after its goalposts were stolen. Poets’ Corner FC, located in Hove, East Sussex, reported that 16 aluminium goal posts were taken from its lock-up in Wish Park. The club initiated a crowdfunding campaign to raise £3,000 to replace the equipment, which is utilized by more than 150 children. On Monday, the club announced that £4,000 had been raised within a 12-hour timeframe. The club stated: “From parents to rival clubs and total strangers, the response has 100% restored our faith that good prevails. With this incredible reaction from the local community we can now move on with quickly replacing the stolen goalposts and limit the effect on our boys and girls. As a non-profit club run entirely by volunteers, this theft has sickened us, and our attention now turns to working with those who have information to catch the thieves… as well as ensuring this doesn’t happen again.”
