Cole Palmer has stated that achieving the Ballon d’Or is one of his primary aspirations in football, while also expressing that he currently misses the straightforward pleasure of participating in five-a-side games with friends. During an appearance on the Men in Blazers podcast, Palmer remarked: “Ballon d’Or, that’s what everyone wants to win. I wish.” The 22-year-old player has once more played a crucial role for Chelsea throughout the current season and considers qualifying for the Champions League this season to be “a success.” His standing within the sport has significantly increased since the beginning of the previous season, leading to consequences for his personal life outside of football. He commented on these changes, stating: “It (my life) has changed massively. You can’t go to certain places because you’ll get pestered and you can’t be bothered with it because you just want to chill.” Palmer further elaborated on the feeling of constant scrutiny, saying: “When you go to a shop round the corner you might think, ‘Oh someone is watching me’ or something.” He specifically mentioned missing a particular activity: “(I miss) going to play five-a-side. I swear that’s actually true. Yeah, just going to five-a-side with mates and playing.”
