A city’s recently introduced clean air plan encompasses various initiatives, including the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and enhancements to cycling lanes. The new five-year strategy also incorporates improvements to walking lanes, public transportation, and efforts to reduce lorry traffic in specific areas of Worcester. Zoe Cookson, who chairs the city council’s environment committee, emphasized the significance of “minimise the impact poor air quality can have on the wider public.” These proposals emerged after a seven-week public consultation conducted earlier this year. City councillors are scheduled to vote on the plan’s approval next week. The council’s preceding action plan, implemented in 2013, resulted in the construction of the Kepax pedestrian bridge and the installation of ten air quality sensors throughout the city.
