Individuals who are currently unemployed or seeking a career change have received an invitation to a job fair organized by a city council, which offers the prospect of being “hired on the spot.” This event is scheduled to take place on 6 November at Sand Martin House, situated on Fletton Quays in Peterborough. The council announced that a variety of employment opportunities would be accessible, including positions within education, public health, town planning, regeneration, and childminding. Furthermore, several roles will be available through the authority’s partners, Vivacity, Aragon Direct Services, and Milestone Infrastructure. The fair will be open from 13:00 to 15:00, and again from 16:30 to 18:30 GMT. Earlier this year, the council stated its aim to increase the number of young people it employs, given that only 3% of its workforce was aged between 16 and 24. As of March, the council’s employment data indicated that 80% of its staff were between 35 and 64 years old. Dennis Jones, Labour leader of Peterborough City Council, commented: “We’re looking forward to welcoming people to the careers fair and would advise anyone coming along to bring their CV with them. “Visitors can have informal chats with managers, register their interest in a role or even get hired on the spot.”The council offers many benefits for employees, including flexible and agile working with hours that can fit around you, training, development and support to achieve qualifications, generous annual leave allowance and pension scheme, as well as an employee benefits scheme.” Those planning to attend have been advised to register beforehand.
