Lawrence Vigouroux has indicated that the Chilean national team is closely observing his performances for Swansea City as he aims to earn his first senior international cap. The 30-year-old Swansea goalkeeper has been included in Chile’s squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, facing Peru this Saturday and Venezuela on Wednesday, 20 November. He expresses optimism that his strong showings for Swansea this season could culminate in his senior debut. Regarding his prospects of representing Chile in the coming week, Vigouroux stated, “It depends what the manager wants.” He further elaborated on his approach, saying, “I just have to keep doing what I’m doing here. Working on my distribution, making saves and trying to help the team with crosses.” He emphasized his primary commitment, adding, “But first and foremost I play for Swansea so the first thing on my mind is how I can help the guys here.” This season, Vigouroux has been a starter in all 15 of Swansea’s Championship fixtures, in addition to their two EFL Cup matches. He confirmed that his coaches with the Chilean national team are monitoring his progress closely. Vigouroux quoted, “The goalkeeper coach watches every game.” He continued, “He will send me a debrief of what he thinks. It’s good to have that. “I am happy they watch and take an interest, but day to day I listen to the manager here and Marge (Martyn Margetson). “They are the ones who allow me to play for this club.” The timing of Chile’s match against Venezuela, scheduled late in the international window, presents a challenge for Swansea head coach Luke Williams. Consequently, Vigouroux is not anticipated to return to Swansea before Thursday, 21 November. However, the club’s subsequent game against Leeds United has been rescheduled to Sunday, 24 November, providing Vigouroux and his teammates an additional day for preparation.
