Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has initiated discussions with Monza regarding a potential loan transfer in January. The 21-year-old has experienced limited opportunities for consistent play with the Blues and has been approached by the Italian team. This season, he has been in the starting lineup for only three games and has come on as a substitute twice, primarily in the Conference League, without yet featuring in any Premier League fixtures. Due to the extensive depth of Chelsea’s squad, the Italy under-21s international has been named to the bench for league matches on only two occasions and seldom appears in the matchday selections under manager Enzo Maresca. When questioned about his prospects in October, Casadei stated: “From the moment I spoke to the manager I was 100% sure that the decision to stay was best for me to improve and for my career.” He further added, “I didn’t want to go permanently. There were some possible loans, but I have always wanted to play for Chelsea. We are one of the biggest teams in the world so I could not be more proud to play for Chelsea.” Monza currently occupies the 19th position in Serie A, contending to avoid relegation to the second tier of Italian football.
