An exclusive showing of the film Paddington has been arranged with the aim of generating funds for an organization dedicated to assisting adults battling cancer. The Mayor’s Charity Family Gala screening of Paddington in Peru will be hosted by Royal & Derngate and Northampton Filmhouse, with proceeds going to The Lewis Foundation. Councillor Paul Joyce, who serves as the mayor of Northampton Town Council, is scheduled to welcome attendees, accompanied by the Jolly Christmas Postman – a figure from the Royal Theatre’s upcoming Christmas production. Young attendees will be given a complimentary Christmas gift and will have the opportunity to hand over any letters intended for Santa Claus to the festive postman. Paddington in Peru represents the third installment in the film franchise centered on the renowned marmalade-enthusiast bear, whose journey began in Peru before relocating to London. A segment of the revenue generated from ticket purchases will be contributed to The Lewis Foundation, a local charitable organization that procures, packages, and distributes complimentary gifts and support kits to adults undergoing cancer treatment. This event is scheduled for 16 November at 14:00 GMT, to be held at the Northampton Filmhouse. For updates on Northamptonshire news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Copyright 2024 BBC.
