Gregg Hill recognized the necessity of assistance in providing care for his two youngest children following their diagnoses with complex disabilities. He subsequently discovered a vital resource in the Leamington Spa-based charity, Entrust Care Partnership (ECP), which has become a crucial support, particularly for his eldest daughter, Lily, rather than his youngest children. With the support of ECP, an organization funded by Children in Need, Lily has since gained the opportunity to step away from family responsibilities, enabling her to experience adolescence and pursue her GCSE studies. Lily stated, “It’s really nice. I can express myself and I can be how I want without having to think of anything, I can be like a child again before having to go back into being a carer at home.” Founded in 2013, the charity offers assistance to families who are caring for children, young people, and adults with disabilities, additional, or specific needs. As part of its supportive initiatives, ECP provides a diverse array of services, ranging from employment guidance workshops to holiday breaks designed to be disability-friendly for families and their disabled relatives. Coffee Tots, a parent-toddler support group situated in Coventry, also receives funding from Children in Need. Catherine Bartlam established this group 15 years ago, having personally confronted isolation after the birth of her son. She commented, “Parent-toddler groups can be quite scary and intimidating to go to, so I wanted to set up something that was accessible for everybody.” Ms Bartlam further described the group as a “safe space” for individuals, noting that for numerous participants, the group and its members have evolved into an extended family. “We want families to flourish and children to thrive, and it’s enabled us to provide that setting for that,” she added.
