The local council has announced that ongoing roadworks on a principal thoroughfare in Caterham, Surrey, will be suspended during the upcoming festive period. Tandridge District Council specified that the construction activities on Croydon Road are scheduled to cease on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and recommence on Thursday, January 2, 2025. To mitigate inconvenience, the temporary traffic lights will be dismantled, and the pedestrian crossing will function normally while the site is inactive. Nevertheless, certain barriers and fencing will remain in position to safeguard both the public and the work area. The construction project on Croydon Road commenced in February, with an initial anticipated completion date in early December. However, the council stated that the works would not be finished until early 2025, attributing this delay to several “unforeseen delays”. The scope of the work encompasses crucial surface water repairs, the expansion and enhancement of footpaths, and the installation of new paving.
