Carrick Rangers Manager Baxter Hails ‘Pleasing Result’ in 2-1 Win Over Ballymena United After Red Card

Following Nedas Maciulaitis’s superb winning goal, Carrick Rangers manager Stephen Baxter commented that his team “played very well” during their 2-1 triumph over Ballymena United at the Showgrounds. Carrick took the lead through Danny Gibson after a strong first half, but Daithi McCallion soon equalized for the Sky Blues. The Gers then secured their victory with a well-taken goal from Nedas Maciulaitis. The team was subsequently forced to defend intensely after their goalkeeper, Ross Glendining, received a red card, a situation from which Baxter expressed relief that his side managed to secure the win. “We played very well here today we came with a game plan, letting them have the ball a bit and springing them on the counter attack which worked well,” Baxter informed BBC Sport NI. Baxter further stated, “Second half we got ourselves in front, we had to absorb some pressure and we are disappointed with the goal we conceded but the reply was superb.” He concluded by saying, “The quality of the goal, it should win any game but then you go get your goalkeeper sent off and you have to see the game out with 10 men, which we did so it’s a pleasing result.”
