A significant retail complex, currently under receivership, has been listed for sale. The leasehold interest in The Lanes shopping centre, located in Carlisle, Cumbria, is being offered for sale by its appointed receivers, Cushman & Wakefield, with a price tag approaching £16 million. A receiver’s role typically involves taking control of property to safeguard it or to manage the distribution of its assets, frequently serving as an alternative to bankruptcy proceedings. The management of The Lanes Shopping Centre stated that “it would not be in a position to comment until Monday.” According to the real estate firm Savills, the shopping centre generated £1.9 million annually, and recorded a footfall of 7.2 million visitors last year. Situated in the city centre, the property’s current tenants include retailers such as Primark, Next, Superdrug, New Look, River Island, Costa Coffee, and Lush. The long leasehold interest is being marketed by Savills, acting on behalf of the joint receivers Jemma McAndrew and David Eden, both of whom are associated with the real estate company Cushman & Wakefield. Offers exceeding £15,740,000 are being sought for the property.
