OG Anunoby, who joined the New York Knicks in December 2023 following a trade with the Toronto Raptors, achieved a career-best 40 points, contributing to the New York Knicks’ 145-118 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Anunoby, a London native born to Nigerian parents who relocated to the United States at the age of four, also registered five rebounds and four assists during the game. The 27-year-old’s prior personal best was 36 points, which he scored for the Toronto Raptors against the Knicks in November 2021. Furthermore, he successfully converted five three-pointers and all three of his free throws in the Denver match. After his initial trade from Toronto to the Knicks in December 2023, Anunoby subsequently signed a new five-year contract with the team this summer. In his second NBA season, he secured the 2018-19 NBA Championship with the Raptors, making him the sole British player to have won the title. In the same game against the Nuggets, Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 30 points and 15 rebounds, while his team-mate Jalen Brunson tallied 23 points and a career-high 17 assists. The Knicks’ strong performance in the first half, where they accumulated 76 points, contributed to their fifth victory in six games. Conversely, the Nuggets have now experienced two consecutive losses on their home court.
