Richard Shaw participated in the 1990 FA Cup final for Crystal Palace against Manchester United. Cardiff City has announced the appointment of Richard Shaw, a former defender for Coventry and Millwall, as their new assistant coach. Shaw, aged 56, accumulated more than 150 Premier League appearances for Coventry between the years 1995 and 2001. Subsequently, he served as caretaker manager for the Sky Blues in 2012, having previously held the identical position at Millwall five years earlier. More recently, Shaw has coached youth teams at Crystal Palace and Watford, where he collaborated with Omer Riza, the current manager of the Bluebirds. Cardiff enters the Christmas period positioned in the Championship’s bottom three. Shaw’s inaugural match with the Bluebirds is scheduled for Boxing Day against Oxford United, who are also contending at the lower end of the league table. Cardiff approaches this game tied on points with The Us, but holds one position higher due to superior goal difference.
