Following an anonymous tip, police uncovered a cannabis cultivation operation within a residential property located on a suburban street. West Yorkshire Police indicated that a “third party” reported suspicious activity at the Victorian terraced property, situated near Bradford city centre, on Wednesday. Officers conducted a raid on the four-storey house on Ashgrove, off Great Horton Road, where they found hundreds of plants being cultivated. No individuals were present inside the premises at the time of the raid, but an investigation has since commenced. A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed: “Officers discovered around 300 to 400 cannabis plants being grown over four floors in numerous rooms. “No arrests were made but we have recorded a crime of producing a controlled Class B drug.”Enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to any witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious at the location to get in touch.”If they do they should quote the incident’s crime number which is 13240633185.” Uniformed police personnel remained at the scene on Thursday to facilitate the removal of the plants. Ashgrove features several Grade II-listed buildings, and in the 19th Century, the street was home to German merchant families who had relocated to Bradford to work in the textile industry.
