A mountain rescue team provided assistance to two individuals who were camping in the Peak District during Storm Bert. The Buxton Mountain Rescue Team reported that the pair had established their camp on Kinder Scout, but the intensity of the winds caused their tent to begin leaking water. They initiated an alert at approximately 05:00 GMT on Sunday. The volunteer rescue organization stated it found both campers “mildly hypothermic”. Rescuers guided the campers on foot back to Edale while their tent was disassembled. Both individuals regained warmth inside the rescue team’s control vehicle before proceeding home independently. A spokesperson, who commended the two for seeking help, remarked: “We hope the campers enjoyed a nice warm shower and a hearty breakfast when they got home.” The spokesperson added: “We all learn lessons from our experiences, especially in the great outdoors.” They further stated: “Sometimes, we find ourselves in challenging situations, but these experiences build knowledge and resilience for future adventures.” Information on how to follow BBC Derby is available on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
