While Celtic, led by captain Callum McGregor, is predictably at the top of the Premiership table, McGregor’s position as the league’s leading scorer has emerged as an unexpected development. The 31-year-old deep-lying midfielder has accumulated six league goals this season, a total that surpasses all other players in Scotland’s premier football division. His most recent goal was recorded on Saturday against Ross County, a 20-yard effort during a 5-0 victory. Notably, every one of McGregor’s six goals this season—scored against Hibernian, St Mirren, Rangers, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, and Ross County—originated from outside the penalty area. This current goal count already exceeds his individual season totals from each of his previous four campaigns. Furthermore, McGregor achieved these six goals from only 16 attempts, with seven of those shots hitting the target.
