A businesswoman whose shop was targeted in a theft involving luxury bags valued at tens of thousands of pounds is urging the public to be vigilant against the sale of these stolen items online. Authorities are conducting an investigation following a break-in at the Evey’s Preloved showroom in Mill Hill, north-west London. The premises were forcibly entered using a sledgehammer around 22:40 GMT on Tuesday, resulting in the theft of high-value watches in addition to the bags. Evey Amery, 57, expressed that she “felt really upset” following the incident, but noted that individuals had been “really, really kind and genuine” in their response. She stated: “It’s a little business but I’m here, I love what I do and so I will carry on.” While no arrests have been made, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers responded promptly and are currently collecting CCTV footage as “inquiries continue.” Ms Amery, who mentioned dedicating years to establishing her business specializing in pre-owned designer bags, characterized the burglary as “well planned.” In an appeal for assistance, she stated: “I want colleagues to be really mindful about what’s happened: people might unknowingly be buying goods which are stolen.” Many of the stolen bags lacked their original boxes and dust covers. She commended the community’s reaction following what she termed “a horrible thing to happen.” She added: “I’m not global or corporate, I love what I do. I love selling, I love chatting and I love pre-loved.” “I’ve had some amazing comments: people genuinely want to help and that shows a lot about their character,” she remarked.
