Burnley Condemns Alleged Abuse of Watford Player

Burnley secured a 2-1 victory over Watford at Turf Moor. Lancashire Police are currently investigating an allegation of racial abuse directed at a Watford player during yesterday’s Championship match, which took place at Turf Moor. Burnley Football Club issued a statement appealing for witnesses and affirmed that it “will ensure that those responsible are held accountable.” The statement further declared: “Burnley Football Club is deeply concerned by allegations of abuse directed towards a Watford player during the first half of today’s fixture at Turf Moor. Discrimination has absolutely no place in football or society and we condemn such behaviour in the strongest possible terms.” Watford Football Club encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward and stated: “Watford FC will be offering its fullest support to the player towards whom the alleged abuse was directed.”
