A judge at Bradford Crown Court on Friday mandated two brothers, previously convicted of drug dealing offenses, to jointly repay nearly £75,000. This directive was issued under the Proceeds of Crime Act. During the hearing, it was revealed that Daniel Shaw, aged 27, had accrued approximately £817,000 through his criminal activities, whereas Joseph Shaw, aged 31, had gained roughly £61,000. Daniel Shaw, the younger sibling, was instructed to repay his available sum of approximately £24,000, while Joseph Shaw, the older sibling, received an order to repay around £49,000. Joseph Shaw, who had been released in January 2023 after serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence, was informed that failure to repay the money within three months would result in an additional 12-month prison term. Daniel Shaw, currently serving a 10-and-a-half-year sentence, was advised that he would incur a further eight months in prison if he failed to repay his debt within the identical timeframe. Furthermore, Judge Clayson mandated the forfeiture and subsequent destruction of all narcotics confiscated during the investigation. The court was informed that the brothers’ arrest followed an incident in August 2021, when an individual entered a police station and notified officers about a cache of drugs and cash kept at his residence in Bradford. As part of the police investigation, officers conducted a search of a property in Low Moor, where they discovered approximately 30 kilograms of heroin and nearly £100,000 in cash contained within a padlocked sports bag. It was disclosed to the court that Daniel Shaw, previously residing on Albion Road, Bradford, and Joseph Shaw, of Green Road, Baildon, possessed no prior criminal records. At their sentencing hearing in January of the previous year, Judge Ahmed Nadim commented that the duo had engaged in these offenses “in the pursuit of riches and a lifestyle” beyond their means. The siblings were seated side-by-side in the dock and exchanged a fist bump as Friday’s hearing concluded, prior to the older brother’s return to custody.
