A British man, aged 20, passed away after he was discovered with fatal injuries inside a lift shaft during a family vacation in Turkey. Tyler Kerry, a resident of Basildon, Essex, was found on Friday morning at the hotel where he was accommodated, situated close to Lara Beach in Antalya. His family characterized the vacationer as “a young man full of personality, kindness and compassion with his whole life ahead of him”. Tui, the holiday company, stated its support for his relatives but declined further comment due to an ongoing police investigation. A spokeswoman for the UK government confirmed: “We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Turkey.” Over £4,500 has been committed to a fundraising effort established to help with Mr Kerry’s funeral expenses. He had been vacationing in the coastal city alongside his grandparents, Collette and Ray Kerry, his girlfriend Molly, and other family members. Alex Price, Mr Kerry’s great uncle, reported that he was located at the base of the lift shaft at 07:00 local time (04:00 GMT). This discovery occurred after a search operation spearheaded by his brother, Mason, and cousin, Nathan, according to Mr Price. Mr Kerry had been accommodated on the first floor of the hotel. Mr Price informed the BBC that “An ambulance team attended and attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.” He added, “We are unclear about how he came to be in the lift shaft or the events immediately preceding this.” Mr Price mentioned that the family received a death certificate following the completion of a post-mortem examination. The family expressed hope for his body’s repatriation by Tuesday. On a GoFundMe page, Mr Price further stated that the family was “completely devastated”. He extended gratitude to individuals for their “kindness and consideration” in the wake of his nephew’s passing. The holiday firm Tui conveyed its “sincere condolences” to Tyler Kerry’s family. A spokeswoman affirmed, “We will continue to provide around-the-clock support to Tyler’s family during this difficult time,” adding, “As there is now a police investigation we are unable to comment further.”
