As the pantomime season commences, the cast of *Goldilocks and the Three Bears* has expressed its anticipation of “bringing joy” to the residents of Bristol. The production, featuring Brenda Edwards, Brian Conley, and his daughter Lucy Conley, began its five-week engagement at the Bristol Hippodrome and is scheduled to conclude on 5 January. Ms Edwards, an actress, presenter, and singer, conveyed her enjoyment of participating in pantomime, describing it as being about “having fun and bringing joy.” She further remarked, “It’s the one time of year you’ve got a licence to be a little kid.” The narrative of the pantomime centers on Goldilocks’ endeavor to rescue her circus from a malevolent rival circus proprietor, portrayed by Phil Corbitt. She receives assistance from her circus companions and the three bears. Ms Edwards, who takes on the role of Candy Floss the circus singer, stated that her involvement in the pantomime has been beneficial for her personally. She explained, “Christmas is a bit sombre for me because my parents passed at Christmas and so I try to do something that will lift my spirits up… and everybody else’s spirits too.” She added, “It’s nice to be able to offer audiences escapism for two hours. They can take their mind off troubles and hopefully come out lighter.” Comedian and actor Brian Conley described his experience of performing on stage alongside his daughter Lucy as “great.” He commented, “We do a lot of comedy together so it was great, we didn’t have to rehearse in a studio, we just did it in our lounge.” Conley also remarked about his daughter’s performance, stating, “She’s really good. She couldn’t be a better goldilocks. I’m just wondering if we might fall out.” Ms Conley acknowledged that while it might sound cliché, she perceives her “hero is my dad.” She also conveyed, “I just feel very fortunate [to be working with him].” Additionally, she co-wrote two of the show’s songs with her friend Adam O’Connor and recounted crying upon hearing them played in the theatre for the first time. She declared, “This is the best Christmas of my life.” David Robbins and magician Phil Hitchcock are also featured performers in the production, which includes the Timbuktu Tumblers.
