Christina Howell, 37, of Easton, entered a not guilty plea to the charge of murdering Hubert “Isaac” Brown in Bristol last year. This plea was made during proceedings at the city’s crown court on Friday, concerning the death in the St Paul’s area. Mr. Brown, aged 61 and also residing in Easton, succumbed to a stab wound sustained during an attack on Grosvenor Road on September 29, 2023. According to Avon and Somerset Police, the proceedings in this case are influenced by Ms. Howell’s detention in a high-security hospital while awaiting psychiatric evaluations. Detective Inspector Nadine Partridge of Avon and Somerset stated: “This case has been unavoidably delayed because the defendant has been experiencing mental ill health and has been unable to instruct defence lawyers in line with their right to a fair trial.” Detective Inspector Partridge also commented that the postponement has “understandably” had an impact on Mr. Brown’s family. Ms. Howell remains in custody in anticipation of an additional hearing scheduled for December 20, and a trial slated for February 2025.
