Following a third consecutive loss, Bristol Rovers manager Matt Taylor acknowledged apprehension regarding his position. His team, Bristol Rovers, has now lost its last three matches without scoring a goal. The latest defeat was a 2-0 loss to promotion-contending Birmingham City, bringing their season record to merely six wins in 19 games, positioning them two points clear of the relegation zone. When questioned by BBC Radio Bristol about his job security after the defeat at St Andrews, Taylor responded, “Yes – but I can’t control that. Whoever is in charge of this football team the same patterns will occur.” Taylor, aged 42, assumed his role slightly over a year ago, signing a three-and-a-half year contract. During the previous season, he guided the club to 10 victories, culminating in a 15th-place finish in League One. Taylor suggested that his current squad might not possess the necessary attributes to adopt an alternative playing style. He stated, “People will say ‘Just kick it and chase it’ but we haven’t got the physicality to do that.” He further elaborated, “So in terms of the plan at the start – slightly younger profile, slightly different in terms of using the ball and manipulating the ball – we have to believe they can still improve.” He identified confidence as a significant contributing factor, asserting that it cannot be ignored and that players must demonstrate accountability. Taylor acknowledged, “It’s my team and results haven’t been good enough. There are players coming back but something has to change in our direction.” Taylor affirmed that he found no fault with his players’ effort, even as they were defeated by a team currently holding second place in League One. Taylor further commented, “I saw fight, I saw endeavour, I saw them defending the goal for their lives and I saw them run.” He continued, “But it’s hard to keep running when you’ve not got the ball, and we’ve played a big part in that. There are just too many not having that aspect of control.” Post navigation Hibs’ Recent Performances Spark Optimism for Season Rodri’s Ballon d’Or Victory: Reactions and Tributes
