Scotland international lock Jamie Hodgson, who has played his entire club career with Edinburgh, has been signed by Bristol Bears on a short-term loan agreement. Hodgson is temporarily departing the United Rugby Championship team Edinburgh to join the Bears. This move comes as the club faces a scarcity of players in the second row, with Joe Batley, Josh Caulfield, Steele Barker, and George Taylor all sidelined due to injuries. Bears’ director of rugby Pat Lam commented on the signing to the club website, stating: “As we head into a very busy period in the Champions Cup and Premiership, we’re going to be tested across our smaller squad, so it was important to bring in some reinforcements in that position.” Hodgson, aged 26, possesses five caps for Scotland and is a potential candidate to make his debut appearance at Ashton Gate this Sunday. This potential debut would occur when the Bears play host to the Irish team Leinster in their initial Champions Cup match.
