Public electric vehicle (EV) charging points in Brighton & Hove are slated for an expansion following a successful funding application. A government grant totaling £2.8 million will facilitate the installation of 500 EV charging points annually over the forthcoming three-year period. Furthermore, new contracts scheduled for award in 2025 are expected to introduce greater variety and adaptable pricing structures, encompassing off-peak tariffs and providing access to a network exceeding 2,000 charging points. Councillor Trevor Muten, who serves as the cabinet member for transport and parking, stated: “The dramatic increase in the number of public locations will help give residents confidence they can use a charging point close to where they live.” For the past five years, the council has utilized grant funding to focus on areas where residents lack off-street options for vehicle charging. Commencing from the new year, the city will possess more than 500 on-street charging points. According to the council, the city’s existing on-street charging infrastructure already boasts the most extensive coverage outside of London. The council recently completed the installation of 100 new charging points integrated into lamp columns. Preparations are currently underway at an additional 12 sites to incorporate 37 new dedicated EV charging bays. Mr Muten further commented: “Scaling up also offers new opportunities to introduce flexible and off-peak tariffs to make it cost effective for residents to charge their electric vehicles in the city.” Post navigation Government Clears Plans for Enhanced Power Output at Incinerator Petroineos deems Grangemouth buyer discussions incredible
