Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club has revealed its intention to introduce safe standing areas within the Amex Stadium. This system incorporates a rail positioned in front of each seat, mandating that supporters stay within their designated spot throughout games. The club stated that these modifications would be installed in a section of the North Stand, aiming for completion before the commencement of the 2025/26 season, following extensive discussions with its season-ticket holders. Jenny Gower, Albion’s head of ticketing and supporter services, commented: “We had a fantastic response to our survey and a very strong majority in favour of installing safe standing towards the back of the North Stand.” Season-ticket holders currently located in the designated safe standing section who prefer to relocate will be provided with a priority transfer period next March, following the completion of season-ticket renewals. The specific seating areas impacted are within Blocks N1A through N1H, from row R and above, encompassing seats 13 to 241. However, safe standing will not be implemented in Block N1A, seats 1-12, nor in Block N1H from seat 243 upwards, and no part of Block N1I. The club indicated that the safe standing configuration would replicate the system in place at Brentford’s G-Tech Community Stadium. The Amex Stadium’s overall capacity will remain unchanged, and there will be no reduction in ticket prices. Ms Gower reported that 80% of season ticket holders within the relevant section expressed support for safe standing. She further stated: “We will help any season-ticket holders who want to move and the impact of safe standing will be regularly reviewed, but we are confident it will make the atmosphere in the North Stand even better.”
