Brighton has named German national Daniel Niedzkowski as its new assistant head coach. Niedzkowski currently serves as the head of the German Football Association’s (DFB) UEFA Pro License course and holds the position of technical director for coach education. The 47-year-old is set to depart from his current role leading the German Football Association’s (DFB) coaches training programme to join Brighton in January, pending the approval of a work permit. Fabian Hurzeler, who assumed the role of Brighton manager this summer, previously received training under Niedzkowski. “He will be an excellent addition to our coaching team,” Hurzeler stated. “He is somebody I know very well from Germany and have been keen to bring him to the club.” Technical director David Weir commented, “He knows what it takes to get the best out of young footballers and develop them into becoming first-team players, which is something that is crucial to our own DNA.” His responsibilities at the club will also encompass supporting the broader advancement of coach education and developing a programme designed to ensure the highest possible standard of coaching, from the academy level upwards, across both the men’s and women’s teams. Niedzkowski’s past experience includes serving as an assistant coach at Bayer Leverkusen and managing the Germany Under-21s squad.
