New proposals could see a disused building in Bradford transformed into a health centre, pending approval. Standard Health Group, a provider of orthopaedic NHS services, intends to establish this new facility on Filey Street, situated just off Shipley Airedale Road. The proposed Kingfisher Orthopaedic Centre is described by the group as a “transformative step in addressing the demand for enhanced medical facilities” within the district. A planning application concerning Kingfisher House, formerly an office location for the Royal Bank of Scotland, has been submitted to Bradford Council, with a ruling anticipated in February. According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), the structure was previously dismantled in recent years to accommodate several proposed developments that ultimately did not proceed. The blueprints for the medical centre incorporate provisions for 43 parking spaces for vehicles and 12 spaces for bicycles. The submitted planning application states: “The redesign of the existing building will be a new state-of-the-art medical facility that will accommodate a new theatre suite, diagnostics, day surgery and supporting facilities.” It further specifies: “The centre is dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare services.” The application also notes: “The current condition of the structure is sound but with the need to be redesigned and brought back to life.” The LDRS sought additional information from Standard Health Group regarding the investment amount for the site and the number of jobs expected to be generated, but has not yet received a reply.
