Brad Pauls, who sustained a fractured eye socket in the 10th round of his recent bout against Denzel Bentley, has declared his intention to “get more belts” despite relinquishing his British middleweight title to Bentley. The 31-year-old fighter from Cornwall was defeated by the London-based opponent via a unanimous points decision at Wembley Arena this past Saturday. This victory also secured for Bentley the European and WBO International belts, positioning him as the organization’s top contender for its world championship. Pauls began the fight cautiously but managed to secure a few of the central rounds before Bentley took command, ultimately knocking down the Newquay-based boxer in the 10th round. “It was not the result I wanted, I’m absolutely gutted, but I did try my absolute best,” Pauls stated in a video message posted on social media following the match. He added, “Massive respect to Denzel Bentley who’s a great fighter, definitely above British level.” Pauls continued, “I took a shot at something higher, it didn’t work out, but I’ll do what I always do and dust myself off and go again.” This defeat adjusts Brad Pauls’ professional boxing record to 19 victories, two losses, and one draw. Pauls disclosed that he suffered a fractured left eye socket during the 10th round, attributing it as a contributing factor to the first knockdown he has experienced in his professional career. “I couldn’t see out of my eye afterwards,” Pauls further explained, noting his current record stands at 19 wins, two losses, and one draw across 22 professional contests. He added, “That’s boxing, that’s how it goes sometimes, so I’ll take some time to rest and recover and let my eye heal up.” Pauls affirmed, “I know I can get more belts.” He concluded, “I’ve got to lead by example, I’m going to take adversity, rebuild and come back stronger like I’ve always done.” The boxing match served as the main event for Frank Warren’s Magnificent Seven show, also held at Wembley Arena. The promoter, Frank Warren, indicated his commitment to providing Pauls with additional fighting opportunities under his promotion in the future. “I said ‘don’t you worry, we’ll have you back in the ring’,” Warren informed TNT Sports following the contest. Warren further commented, “He comes to fight, he’s a fighter, he’s got a fighting heart.” He added, “It takes two guys to make a good fight and that’s what it was, a good fight.”
