A nightclub bouncer has entered a not guilty plea to an accusation of raping a woman near a well-known central London establishment. Morenikeji Adewole, 47, is charged with committing the assault close to Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross during the early morning hours of November 1. Mr. Adewole, whose address is Dunlop Close, Dartford, appeared before Southwark Crown Court and denied the charge. He has been held in custody, and his trial is scheduled to commence next year. Judge Justin Cole remarked that the alleged assault was “said to be a predatory rape”. The Metropolitan Police had previously stated that personnel reportedly disregarded the woman’s attempts to report the incident. Heaven, a venue that has been in operation for over 40 years, was shut down by Westminster City Council for reasons of public safety following the alleged attack. The establishment has since received permission to resume operations, subject to stringent conditions.
