Bomb Attack at Pakistan Railway Station Claims at Least 25 Lives

Officials report a minimum of 25 fatalities following a bomb detonation at a railway station located in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province. The explosion, which also wounded numerous individuals, occurred as a widely used morning train was preparing to depart Quetta station, situated in southwestern Pakistan, en route to Peshawar. The Balochistan Liberation Army, a separatist militant organization, stated its responsibility for the incident, which law enforcement authorities are classifying as a suicide assault. Abdul Jabbar, one of the injured, was transported to the Civil Hospital. He recounted that he was entering the station, having just bought a ticket from the booking office, when the blast occurred. He stated, “I can’t describe the horror I faced today, it was like a judgement day has come.” Muhammad Sohail reached the station shortly after the explosion, intending to board his train bound for Multan in Punjab province. He observed, “Everything was destroyed at the station, and people were laying down on the ground screaming for help.” The Baloch Liberation Army, having asserted responsibility for the assault, issued a statement via social media claiming it had targeted a Pakistani military unit returning to Quetta following the completion of a training program. Police subsequently verified that 14 soldiers were among the fatalities. Balochistan’s chief minister denounced the incident as deplorable, describing the perpetrators as “worse than animals.” Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that authorities would pursue them and “bring them to their logical end.” Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, also condemned the explosion, asserting that those accountable were the “enemies of humanity.” Balochistan stands as Pakistan’s largest province and possesses the greatest wealth in natural resources, yet it remains the least developed.
