Body Discovered in Search for Missing Stockport Postman, Believed to be Steven Caulfield

During the search for a man reported missing, whose last known location was a golf course, a body has been discovered. Although formal identification is pending, officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have indicated a strong likelihood that the deceased is Steven Caulfield. GMP confirmed that the family of the 70-year-old individual has been notified and is receiving support. Mr. Caulfield, a postman residing in Stockport, was last observed on the afternoon of October 1st on a golf course situated adjacent to Middlewood Way in Marple. Law enforcement personnel located a body in a wooded area close to Middlewood Way on Wednesday. GMP stated that no suspicious circumstances are suspected regarding the death, and a report will now be compiled for the coroner. Stockport detectives initiated a comprehensive missing person investigation, complemented by a broad search effort conducted by specialist GMP officers. Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes commented, “Our deepest condolences remain with Steven’s family and friends, who have been devastated by this traumatic news, we have officers supporting them through this difficult time.” He further noted that the search, which included the force’s Tactical Aid Unit, along with canine and underwater teams, was conducted under “challenging conditions and locations.” He concluded by stating, “We hope today’s discovery provides some answers for Steven’s loved ones.”
