A black cab manufacturer is preparing to reduce its workforce by up to 45 positions. The London Electric Vehicle Company indicated that this action forms part of its strategy to “drive efficiencies” across its operations. The Coventry-based firm specified that the job reductions would involve a combination of temporary personnel and individuals opting for voluntary redundancy. It affirmed that vehicle manufacturing would proceed at Ansty Park, ensuring no impact on customers, sales, or service. This announcement follows a strike in June, when approximately 100 employees ceased work due to a pay dispute. Members of the union Unite had previously declined an offer comprising a 3.5% salary increase and a one-off payment of £400 for staff in lower pay brackets. The facility, which produces electric taxis, commenced operations in 2017 and currently employs around 400 individuals.
