The organizers of a festive market, which they assert is among the largest in the UK, anticipate an attendance exceeding 50,000 individuals. The Beverley Festival of Christmas is scheduled to take place in the East Yorkshire town this Sunday. According to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the yearly celebration will showcase Victorian-era market stalls, amusement rides, artistic and craft items, culinary offerings, beverages, and live street performances. Anne Handley, who serves as the council’s leader, stated that the occasion provides “a huge economic benefit to the town”. She further commented, “We look forward to welcoming more than 50,000 people to Beverley for the Festival of Christmas, our flagship tourism event of the year.” The festivities are scheduled to occur across Saturday Market, Wednesday Market, and North Bar Within, operating from 10:00 to 16:00 GMT on Sunday. Additionally, various activities will be held at Flemingate shopping centre, Beverley Minster, St Mary’s Church, The Guildhall, Toll Gavel Church, and East Riding Theatre. Santa’s sleigh is slated to commence its journey from Wednesday Market at 10:00, proceeding in a parade through Butcher Row and Toll Gavel before reaching Saturday Market, where it will remain until approximately 13:30. The local authority advises attendees to utilize public transportation. The authority confirmed that a complimentary park and ride service will be available from Beverley Racecourse throughout the weekend. The initial bus departure is scheduled for 09:00, with subsequent services running every 15 to 20 minutes to and from a designated stop located outside North Bar on Wylies Rd. The final bus will depart for the racecourse at 17:00 daily. On the day of the event, road closures will be implemented starting in the early morning hours, and parking will be suspended in certain town car parks until 19:00. Nevertheless, the council indicated that parking spaces would be accessible on Norwood, Grayburn Lane, Grovehill, Flemingate, and Butcher Row. Furthermore, restricted Blue Badge parking will be provided in Grayburn Lane and within the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s car park, situated off Champney Road, directly across from the Treasure House. The regular Saturday Market is still planned for Saturday and will incorporate a festive motif.
