England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, will not participate in the SA20 tournament due to a hamstring injury. The 33-year-old cricketer is expected to be out of action for a minimum of three months, an injury he acquired earlier this month during bowling in the third Test match against New Zealand. Stokes was scheduled to make his debut in the tournament, representing MI Cape Town. Other England players, including Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, and Zak Crawley, are still slated to participate in the tournament, which is scheduled from 9 January to 8 February. While Joe Root and Liam Livingstone have also been signed, their participation is anticipated to be restricted due to England’s white-ball series against India and the Champions Trophy.
