A sports car adorned with a Barbie theme is scheduled for exhibition at the Classic Car Show in Birmingham. The 1967 Aston Martin DB6 underwent repairs and was painted pink at a workshop located in Berwick, East Sussex. This restoration followed its involvement in a rally crash in Mexico two years prior. David Pearce-Martin and his crew dedicated several months to restoring the car “to its former glory,” as it had been rendered “unrecognisable” after overturning during the La Carrera Panamericana event. Mr. Pearce-Martin recounted that he “jokingly suggested pink as something that stands out” when his client was considering color options. Speaking to BBC Radio Sussex, Mr. Pearce-Martin stated: “Initially I thought ‘what have we done?’. “But surprisingly I now think it works quite well.”It’s looking fantastic for the show. It is going to be a bright stand with a variety of colours.” The vehicle belongs to Apparently Racing, a racing team based in Sussex, which intends to race it once more in Mexico in 2025. Mr. Pearce-Martin, a classic car restorer, has operated his business, DPM Autobody, for a decade. He expressed that he was “living childhood dreams in adulthood.” He further noted: “Me and my staff are all self-taught. “Many of our classic cars are museum pieces. “We carry out the whole restoration process using traditional methods.” The Classic Car Show is scheduled to take place at the NEC in Birmingham, commencing on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
