A theatre compelled to cease operations after being inundated by floodwater in the aftermath of Storm Bert is preparing to resume activities. The Mill Arts Centre, situated in Banbury, had only recently made its auditorium accessible again following February’s flooding, which had caused damage to its stage and floor. The venue indicated that the cleaning and drying procedures were progressing effectively, with all scheduled classes and workshops anticipated to proceed as usual starting Monday. The primary theatre space is scheduled to recommence operations on Thursday, featuring a Christmas staging of The Gruffalo. A Tuesday performance by the band St Agnes Fountain has been moved to St Mary’s Church, also located in Banbury. The cafe bar, which continues to undergo cleanup efforts following the extensive flooding, remains inaccessible. Extensive flooding impacted Oxfordshire on Monday, affecting numerous locations such as Banbury, East Hanney, and Abingdon. The Environment Agency has issued fourteen flood warnings that are still active throughout Oxfordshire. For updates, BBC Oxfordshire can be followed on Facebook, X, or Instagram. Copyright 2024 BBC.
