Hundreds of individuals donned white bed sheets in an endeavor to establish a new world record for the largest assembly of people dressed as ghosts. Organizers of the event in Dorchester had hoped to exceed the existing record of 560, which was set in 2017 by a school located in Ireland. The attempt, however, did not achieve its objective, with 346 participants joining a Halloween party that included music and dancing in Brewery Square. Another similar effort in the Dorset town last year also proved unsuccessful, with only 204 “apparitions” recorded, as rain reportedly dampened enthusiasm. Mercy School Mounthawk in Tralee holds the current world record, having established it in March 2017. An attempt organized by Manchester City Council in 2022 also failed, as inclement weather discouraged attendance. You can follow BBC Dorset on Facebook, X (Twitter), or Instagram. Copyright 2024 BBC.
