The local fire service has indicated that a fire at a play area in north Cornwall may have been caused by arson. Personnel from Bude Fire Station responded to a call at Marhamchurch playpark, situated near Bude, around 17:00 BST on Wednesday evening. Upon their arrival, firefighters reported that a plastic park bench and table were burning, and they subsequently put out the fire. Law enforcement officials stated that the blaze also resulted in “significant damage to the perimeter fence of the playpark” and confirmed they are investigating the event as arson. Authorities urged anyone possessing relevant information to get in touch with the police. Adam Mckenzie, a resident who observed smoke while walking his dog on the beach in Bude, commented: “It’s pretty tragic to be honest, it meant a lot to the local community.” Nikki Unger, a village resident, expressed her sentiments on social media, stating: “We have spent years raising money for this play park for our children to enjoy.” She added: “Some of us are in tears about this mindless destruction, not even to mention the threat to the surrounding houses and the fear for their homes.” Post navigation 17-Year-Old Dies in Motorbike Crash; Family Describes Him as Having “Biggest Heart” Police distribute 1,000 flyers in appeal for information on baby’s remains
