Emily Fox, an Arsenal defender who joined the club in January 2024, stated that the team is “learning from the hiccups at the start of the season” as they advance under interim manager Renee Slegers. The Gunners have secured five victories and one draw in their six matches since Slegers assumed leadership following the resignation of former boss Jonas Eidevall. Fox remarked, “I think right now we are all very confident in each other and ourselves. With the entire team, we feel together,”. She further added, “Each game has been very difficult and we have been learning from each other. We’re learning from the hiccups at the start of the season.” When questioned about the modifications implemented since Slegers took charge, Fox indicated that the players are appreciating the “clarity and freedom” now present. She elaborated, “I mean, I think there’s a lot of things. I definitely think with the coaching staff it was a smooth transition in a sense,” adding, “Renee brings a lot of confidence, is very even-keeled and is just straight-forward. I think with that, you have clarity and also freedom. ” Fox concluded by stating, “As a team we all want to do better. It’s never just one person or one reason why we’re doing bad. “It’s a collective responsibility and accountability to come together and make things work to be better.”
