An individual has been taken into custody subsequent to a significant road traffic collision on the A14 earlier today. According to Northamptonshire Police, a 21-year-old male, identified as being from Leicestershire, was apprehended on suspicion of “causing serious injury through careless/inconsiderate driving” and remains detained. During the incident, which occurred on the A14’s westbound carriageway, specifically just before junction 10 for Kettering within Northamptonshire, a man in his forties suffered severe head and neck injuries and was transported to University Hospital Coventry. The vehicle he was operating, a white Mercedes Sprinter van, struck the nearside barrier. Three additional occupants of the van received minor injuries. The westbound section of the road remains shut between junction 13, serving Thrapston, and junction 10, for Kettering. National Highways has published information regarding alternative routes.
