Armistice Day was observed by hundreds of individuals at a historic cemetery, as numerous ceremonies commemorated the occasion throughout north-west England. In Birkenhead, civic officials, headed by Dr Nicholas Jedynakiewicz, the Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside, placed wreaths at Flaybrick Memorial Gardens. Members of the public also presented their own tributes at the site. Lord Mayor Richard Kemp presided over a ceremony in nearby Liverpool. This event was among many where cities, towns, and villages observed a moment of silence to honor British and Commonwealth service members who died in conflicts dating from 1914 onwards. Residents convened in Blackburn’s town centre, Lancashire, while in Manchester, the war memorial in St Peter’s Square served as the central point of remembrance.
