A proposal to construct 20 new residential units on the site of a former social club has received official approval. Sheffield City Council formally supported the development, which is slated for the Horndean Road location previously occupied by the St Cuthbert’s Family Social Club. JEM Developments Ltd outlined plans to establish a residential complex comprising three one-bed studios, twelve one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats, and two three-bed flats. This particular parcel of land, situated directly opposite the Northern General Hospital, has remained unoccupied for a period of 17 years, notwithstanding that planning consent had been issued twice before. Despite the planned construction of 20 apartments, only eight parking spaces are designated for provision, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service. The official planning documentation stated: “This level of parking is considered to be appropriate for the size and type of the proposed units as well as car ownership within the local area.”
