A proposal for 35 new residential units situated close to a Surrey railway station has received approval. Spelthorne councillors formally endorsed the plans for the site at Station Approach and Woodthorpe Road in Ashford on Tuesday. This approval follows the rejection of an earlier application for 40 homes on the identical location, which was initially refused by the council and subsequently upheld on appeal by a government planning inspector. The currently approved scheme features one fewer floor and comprises five fewer residences compared to the previously rejected submission. The councillors passed the application with a vote of 10 in favour, zero against, and one abstention. The existing two- and three-storey office structures presently occupying the site are slated for demolition as part of these plans.
