Andros Townsend Rejects Excuses for Manchester City’s Performance

Former England midfielder Andros Townsend, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, addressed Manchester City’s recent form. He remarked that while “injuries can always be disruptive,” he was “not giving Manchester City a pass and definitely not tonight.” Townsend further asserted, “You can’t use players playing out of positions and changes being made as an excuse, when you are playing Feyenoord at home and you are 3-0 up. They have still got world-class players in their squad.” He contrasted this by suggesting that “Maybe against Tottenham, you can make an excuse that they had a midfield three without a recognised number six. They had no legs [against Tottenham],” but concluded that for the current match, “tonight, I can’t make an excuse for them.”
